About Us

Our team proudly celebrates diversity and inclusion in everything we do. Paws in Recovery was founded on the belief that everyone deserves a second chance and a supportive community on the road to recovery. We are a locally operated program in Windsor, Ontario, created for individuals in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community overcoming substance use challenges. Our approach is professional and evidence-based, yet we never lose sight of the human touch – kindness, empathy, and respect are at the core of our work.

Mission

To support members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in overcoming addiction by providing them with the autonomy and resources to shape their own recovery journey.

Vision

To become a leading addiction treatment center that fosters long-term recovery and mental wellness for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals across Ontario.

Our staff is a dedicated multidisciplinary team, including certified addiction counselors, program coordinators, peer support workers, and volunteers – all driven by a shared passion for helping others. Many are part of or allies to the LGBTQ2S+ community, bringing understanding and acceptance to the table. Every team member is trained in trauma-informed care, suicide intervention (ASIST), first aid, and Naloxone administration to ensure resident safety.

Paws in Recovery is more than a program – it’s a family and a community. Whether you are seeking help for yourself or a loved one, or you’re a supporter who believes in our mission, we welcome you. Explore our Intake page to learn how to become a resident, or see our Donations & Funding section for ways to contribute to our cause.
